One of the most common questions asked by guests considering a stay at Melia Cala Galdana is whether upgrading to The Level is really worth the additional cost.
Having experienced both the hotel itself and The Level offering, the answer isn’t quite as simple as yes or no.
The truth is that Melia Cala Galdana is already an exceptional hotel regardless of which room category you choose. You can take a look at the hotel here or even book for yourself!
Its location alone places it among the most desirable area in Menorca, if not the whole Mediterranean. Perched above the turquoise waters of Cala Galdana, guests are treated to one of the islands most spectacular beach settings, with direct access to the bay and stunning coastal views in almost every direction. Plus some of the best diving at the local dive school www.blueislandsdiving.com.
Even standard guests enjoy many of the features that make the hotel so very special.
The Standard Melia Cala Galdana Experience
From the moment you arrive, there is a sense that this is a hotel that understands hospitality.
The bright, airy reception opens towards the sea, immediately drawing your eye to the bay beyond. Staff are welcoming, efficient and genuinely eager to help ensure your stay is memorable.

Accommodation throughout the hotel is thoughtfully designed, with the comfortable beds, quality furnishings and the little touches that elevate a stay beyond the ordinary. Guests will still find premium Rituals toiletries in their rooms, generous amenities and a level of comfort that many competing hotels reserve only for highly upgraded categories.
Outside, the hotel offers plenty of space to relax. The main pool area provides a lively atmosphere for families, while adults can enjoy dedicated relaxation spaces including whirlpool hot tubs overlooking the coastline. Poolside service is available throughout the day, and the adjacent bar provides everything from freshly made cocktails to light lunches and refreshments.
Breakfast is complete with an extensive buffet combining international favourites with local Menorcan flavours, fresh fruit, pastries and made to order dishes, creating one of the strongest breakfast offerings on the island.
For many guests, this experience alone will be more than enough.
What Makes The Level Different?
Where the Level truly excels is not necessarily in adding more luxury, but in creating a greater sense of exclusivity.
The experience begins before you’ve even reached your room.

Check in takes place in a dedicated private area away from the bustle of the main reception. Rather than queuing alongside arriving guests, you’re taken past the queues to a welcoming calmer environment with a cocktail or glass of bubbles (among refreshments and water) After a long journey, this quieter arrival immediately sets a different tone to the holiday.
Guests staying in The Level who opt for a junior suite panoramic room enjoy some of the most enviable views in Menorca. Floor to ceiling windows frame the sweeping curve of Cala Galdana bay, while spacious balconies become front row seats to some of the islands most spectacular sunsets.

inside, the suits feature generous living spaces, walk in wardrobes, dedicated dressing areas and exceptionally comfortable beds complete with pillow menus. The freestanding bathtub positioned to overlook the mediterranean created a genuine sense of indulgence and quickly becomes one of the rooms standout features.

Every detail feels considered. Whether it’s the premium Rituals amenities, the quality of the furnishings or the attentiveness of the Level concierge team, there is a feeling that every possible comfort has already been anticipated and some more.
The Level Lounge
For many guests, the Level lounge alone justifies the upgrade. Throughout the day, guests have access to complimentary drinks, snacks and refreshments in an elegant setting overlooking the bay from above.
Morning coffees give way to afternoon pastries and evening aperitifs, creating a space that feels more akin to an executive lounge than a traditional hotel facility.

One of the highlights it the opportunity to sample wines from Menorcas Binifadet Vineyard. Their crips whites offer notes of citrus, green apple and mediterranean herbs, while the rosés provide delicate red berry flavours suited to warm Menorcan afternoons. Picture bay views, glass of wine with a local meat and cheese platter!
Enjoying a glass of local wine while gazing across Cala Galdana is one of those simple holiday pleasures that somehow becomes a lasting memory. Freshly off the beach, with salty lips and sandy toes there really isn’t a better feeling of comfort and happiness.
Cape Nao And The Adults Only Pool
Perhaps the most significant advantage of The Level is access to Cape Nao.
Positioned above the beach, this adults only area feels like a boutique hotel hidden within a larger resort. The infinity pool enjoys uninterrupted views across the bay. While attentive service ensures drinks and refreshments are never far away. The atmosphere is noticeably calmer than the main pool area, making it ideal for couples seeking relaxation away from children.

Comfortable loungers, exceptional views and a refined atmosphere combine to create one of the most desirable spots in the entire resort.
Its easy to spend an entire afternoon here without feeling the need to leave, especially if you have a Mojito in hand freshly prepared by the wonderful staff at hand!
So Is The Level Worth It?
If you’re visiting Melia Cala Galdana for the first time, you’ll likely have a wonderful holiday regardless of whether you stay in a standard room or choose the Level.
The hotel itself is already one of Menorcas finest resorts. Its remarkable location, excellent facilities and warm hospitality ensure every guest enjoys a memorable stay.
However. if you’re celebrating a special occasion, travelling as a couple, appreciate premium service or simply want the very best experience the hotel has to offer, The Level transforms an excellent holiday into something genuinely exceptional.
For me, the panoramic suite, private check in, exclusive lounge access, adults only facilities and elevated level of service make it very difficult to return to a standard room once you’ve experienced it.
Would I stay at Melia Cala Galdana again without the level?
Absolutely
Would I choose the Level again?
