There are some hotels that do one thing exceptionally well.

Some have incredible rooms but disappointing food. Others offer beautiful beaches but service that feels as enthusiastic as a delayed airport departure announcement.

Then there are the rare few that manage to get almost everything right.

My stay at Rixos Premium Seagate in Sharm El Sheikh was one of those occasions.

Nestled along the shores of the Red Sea, this sprawling luxury resort combines exceptional dining, beautifully appointed accommodation, a world-class spa and access to some of the finest scuba diving on the planet. It’s the kind of place where you arrive planning to explore and somehow find yourself wondering whether moving into your suite permanently would really be that unreasonable.

First Impressions

From the moment I arrived, the scale of the resort was impressive.

The grounds are immaculate, with manicured gardens, elegant walkways and countless pools weaving their way through the property. Despite its size, the resort never felt crowded. There was always a quiet corner to relax with a coffee, a cocktail or, in my case, a glass of wine while contemplating life’s important questions, such as whether a second dessert really counts if you’re on holiday.

The staff were warm, attentive and genuinely welcoming throughout my stay.

The Rooms

My room struck an excellent balance between comfort and luxury.

Spacious, relatively modern and thoughtfully designed, it provided a welcome retreat after long days spent either by the pool or beneath the surface of the Red Sea. The bed was wonderfully comfortable, the bathroom was generously sized and the overall finish felt premium without becoming overly flashy.

It’s the sort of room where you wake up, draw back the curtains and immediately begin calculating how much annual leave remains before reality inevitably reappears.

Food Worth Travelling For

Let’s address one of the most important subjects.

The food.

I’ve stayed in enough all-inclusive resorts to know that “all-inclusive dining” can sometimes be interpreted rather creatively. Thankfully, Rixos Premium Seagate takes a very different approach.

The quality throughout the resort was genuinely impressive. Whether dining in the buffet restaurants or exploring the à la carte options, the standard remained consistently high. Fresh ingredients, excellent presentation and enough variety to keep even seasoned travellers interested.

Each evening became an enjoyable challenge of deciding where to eat next.

A difficult burden, but one I carried bravely.

From freshly prepared seafood to beautifully cooked meats and international cuisine, every meal felt considered rather than mass-produced. That’s surprisingly rare in the all-inclusive world.

The Wine Situation

Now for the only area where my inner wine enthusiast staged a mild protest.

While the resort’s included drinks selection was extensive and generous, the wine offering didn’t quite reach the same lofty heights as the food.

To be fair, most guests will likely be perfectly content.

Unfortunately, years spent exploring vineyards, wine regions and hotel cellars have left me somewhat particular.

After a brief assessment of the options, I did what any self-respecting rosé lover would do and upgraded to a bottle of Provence rosé.

Crisis averted.

The extra cost was entirely worthwhile and allowed me to continue my holiday with wine in hand.

Service That Felt Personal

Good service means responding quickly when you ask for something.

Exceptional service means remembering what you like before you’ve even asked.

One of the things that genuinely stood out during my stay at Rixos Premium Seagate was how attentive the team were around the resort. Whether I was relaxing by the pool, enjoying a quiet corner of the grounds or simply watching the world go by with a book, there always seemed to be a smiling member of staff nearby.

What impressed me most was how quickly they remembered my preferences.

Before long, staff knew that while I appreciate a good glass of wine, I also have a weakness for a properly made mojito. More than once I found myself pleasantly surprised when a fresh mojito appeared without me needing to make the journey to the bar myself.

The wine situation, as previously discussed, required some gentle intervention from my side in the form of a bottle of Provence rosé, but once the team realised my preference they ensured I was never left wanting.

Those small touches transformed the experience from excellent service into genuinely memorable hospitality.

It’s difficult not to feel looked after when somebody appears with your favourite drink before you’ve even realised you were thirsty.

The Spa

Every great resort needs a sanctuary away from the pools and restaurants.

The spa at Rixos Premium Seagate delivers exactly that.

Elegant, peaceful and beautifully maintained, it provides the perfect environment to slow down and recharge. Whether you’re indulging in a treatment, enjoying the thermal facilities or simply escaping the Egyptian sunshine for an hour, the experience feels genuinely luxurious.

It’s remarkable how quickly stress evaporates when someone hands you a robe and tells you to relax.

After a morning dive or an afternoon by the pool, the spa became one of my favourite places to unwind and reset before the evening’s culinary adventures began.

Beyond the Infinity Pools: Diving the Red Sea

As wonderful as the resort itself is, one of the greatest reasons to visit this part of Egypt lies just offshore.

The Red Sea remains one of the finest diving destinations on Earth.

As a Dive Master, I’ve been fortunate enough to dive in some remarkable locations around the world, but the Red Sea continues to captivate me every time I return.

During my stay, I explored vibrant reefs teeming with life, encountered graceful sea turtles and enjoyed several unforgettable dives among the region’s famous coral gardens.

The highlight, however, was diving the legendary Thistlegorm.

Resting beneath the waves since 1941, the wreck has become one of the most iconic dive sites on the planet. Descending onto the wreck feels less like a dive and more like entering a submerged time capsule. Motorcycles, trucks, railway equipment and wartime cargo still remain scattered throughout the ship, creating an experience unlike anywhere else in the diving world.

Yet even the Thistlegorm had competition.

During one dive, an eagle ray glided effortlessly through the blue and passed so close that I could actually feel the movement of the water around me as it swept by. For a few seconds everything seemed to slow down. There was no sound beyond the rhythm of my breathing and no distraction beyond this magnificent animal moving through its underwater kingdom.

Moments like that are why we dive.

Not for the logbook entries or the photographs, but for those rare encounters that stay with you long after you’ve surfaced.

For anyone considering a stay at Rixos Premium Seagate, combining luxury resort living with world-class diving creates a rather wonderful dilemma.

Do you spend the morning sipping mojitos beside the pool?

Or descending onto one of the world’s most famous shipwrecks?

During my stay, I conducted extensive research into both options and can confidently recommend each.

Final Thoughts

Rixos Premium Seagate succeeds in delivering something many resorts promise but few truly achieve.

Luxury without pretension.

The accommodation is excellent, the food consistently impressive, the spa wonderfully relaxing and the service genuinely warm.

Would I have liked a slightly stronger wine selection included in the package?

Absolutely.

Did a chilled bottle of Provence rosé solve the problem?

Also absolutely.

Most importantly, the resort offers something increasingly rare: a holiday that genuinely allows you to switch off.

Whether you’re seeking relaxation, exceptional dining, family-friendly luxury or unforgettable diving adventures in the Red Sea, Rixos Premium Seagate deserves its reputation as one of Egypt’s premier resorts.

And if you’re fortunate enough to combine a sunset glass of Provence rosé with a morning spent exploring the Thistlegorm, accompanied by turtles, eagle rays and crystal-clear blue water, you’ve probably discovered one of the better ways to spend a week.

A resort that effortlessly combines luxury, hospitality and access to one of the world’s greatest underwater playgrounds. Take a look here and if you have any questions or would like any advice on future holidays get in touch with me.
