Yet somehow this small Balearic island keeps drawing me back multiple times per year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Perhaps it\u2019s the slower pace. Perhaps it\u2019s the astonishing colour of the water. Or perhaps it\u2019s the fact that Menorca hasn\u2019t forgotten how to be itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Whatever the reason, every visit ends the same way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I find myself looking at flights home while already planning the next trip back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you have a week to spend on the island, here\u2019s exactly how I\u2019d do it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Day One: Arrive, Exhale and Find Your Spot<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For me, that spot is Cala Galdana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The horseshoe-shaped bay remains one of the most beautiful on the island and is home to one of my favourite hotels anywhere in the Mediterranean, the Meli\u00e1 Cala Galdana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1920\" height=\"2560\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/roamingwhispers.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/IMG_5031-scaled.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-429\" style=\"aspect-ratio:0.7500035597829956;width:680px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/roamingwhispers.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/IMG_5031-scaled.jpeg 1920w, https:\/\/roamingwhispers.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/IMG_5031-1280x1707.jpeg 1280w, https:\/\/roamingwhispers.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/IMG_5031-980x1307.jpeg 980w, https:\/\/roamingwhispers.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/IMG_5031-480x640.jpeg 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) and (max-width: 1280px) 1280px, (min-width: 1281px) 1920px, 100vw\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If your budget allows, upgrade to The Level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The private infinity pool overlooking the bay is reason enough. Add dedicated concierge service, premium drinks and access to The Level Lounge and suddenly you\u2019ve got one of those rare hotel upgrades that genuinely feels worthwhile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I\u2019ve lost count of the number of mornings I\u2019ve spent sitting in The Level Lounge with a coffee, watching the sunlight creep across the bay below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s not a bad way to start a holiday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Spend your first evening doing very little.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Walk along the beach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Order a glass of local wine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Watch the bay turn gold as the sun begins to disappear behind the cliffs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Menorca rewards those who slow down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Day Two: Walk to Cala Mitjana<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of my favourite things about Menorca is that some of its greatest treasures require a little effort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cala Mitjana is one of them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/roamingwhispers.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/IMG_5728-1-768x1024.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-747\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A short woodland walk leads you towards a beach that looks almost absurdly beautiful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Turquoise water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">White sand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pine trees leaning towards the sea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s the sort of place that makes you wonder why you ever spend time staring at emails.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Arrive early if you can.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By lunchtime, you\u2019ll understand why everyone else had the same idea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Day Three: The Pilgrimage to Cala Macarella<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Every Menorca guide mentions Cala Macarella.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For once, the hype is justified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The walk itself is part of the experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The coastal path winds through pine forests before revealing glimpses of that famous turquoise water below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then suddenly you\u2019re standing above one of the most photographed beaches in Spain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The temptation is to stop there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Don\u2019t.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Continue onwards to Cala Macarelleta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Smaller.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Quieter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Possibly even more beautiful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I\u2019ve spent entire afternoons here doing absolutely nothing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In today\u2019s world, that feels increasingly luxurious.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Day Four: Dive Beneath the Surface<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Most visitors spend their time looking at Menorca.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Few take the opportunity to explore beneath it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That is a mistake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The waters around the island offer some of the finest diving in the Mediterranean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Whenever I\u2019m staying in Cala Galdana, I dive with Blue Islands Diving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Professional, friendly and wonderfully knowledgeable, they\u2019ve introduced me to parts of Menorca most visitors never see.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Caves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rock formations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Shoals of fish shimmering in the sunlight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Underwater landscapes that feel completely disconnected from the busy world above.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As a diving instructor myself, I\u2019m perhaps slightly biased.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But seeing Menorca from beneath the surface provides a completely different appreciation of the island.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Day Five: Get Lost in Ciutadella<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" loading=\"lazy\" isn\u2019t advice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s an instruction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Get lost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Seriously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ciutadella is one of those places best explored without a plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The old capital of Menorca rewards wandering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A narrow alley becomes a hidden courtyard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/roamingwhispers.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/IMG_4241-1-768x1024.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-748\" style=\"width:626px;height:auto\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A side street reveals a centuries-old church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A wrong turn somehow leads to a beautiful harbour filled with restaurants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I\u2019ve wandered these streets countless times and still discover something new during every visit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The best moments rarely happen when you\u2019re looking for them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Eventually you\u2019ll find yourself drawn towards the harbour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Stay there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Order dinner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Watch the boats drift gently in the evening light.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Life feels wonderfully uncomplicated in Ciutadella.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Day Six: Wine, Gin and Long Lunches<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of Menorca\u2019s greatest strengths is that it never feels the need to shout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The food scene is much the same.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Take time to explore local wines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Try Menorcan cheese.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Visit Mah\u00f3n and discover the island\u2019s famous gin heritage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then do what Menorcans do best.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Slow down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Order another drink.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/roamingwhispers.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/IMG_4171-1-768x1024.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-749\" style=\"aspect-ratio:0.7500035597829956;width:397px;height:auto\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Stay for dessert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then perhaps another coffee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nobody is in a rush here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Day Seven: Music, Saxophones and One Last Sunset<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For your final evening, head to Cala Galdana\u2019s neighbouring bay and spend the evening at the Artiem Audax.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Their sunset DJ sessions have become something of a tradition during my visits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As the music drifts across the bay and a live saxophonist plays against the backdrop of the Mediterranean, the atmosphere becomes genuinely special.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s one of those moments where everyone seems to pause simultaneously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Conversations slow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Phones disappear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">People simply enjoy where they are.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And isn\u2019t that what travel should be about?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image luxury resorts across the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I\u2019ve visited famous islands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I\u2019ve seen more dramatic landscapes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yet Menorca remains one of my favourite destinations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not because it\u2019s the biggest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not because it\u2019s the most glamorous.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But because it feels real.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can spend the morning diving beneath the Mediterranean, the afternoon wandering ancient streets and the evening watching a saxophonist perform as the sun sinks below the horizon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some destinations impress you once.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/expedia.com\/affiliate\/aTpvQF3\"
