No reservations to make. No dress code to consider. No plans beyond deciding whether to have another coffee. Or even a glass of Champagne!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After more than a hundred countries and thousands of hotel stays, I\u2019ve discovered that breakfast often tells you more about a hotel than any suite, spa or swimming pool ever could.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A great breakfast isn\u2019t about quantity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s about understanding exactly what guests want at the beginning of a new day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some hotels excel at abundance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Others master simplicity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The very best somehow manage both.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the finest buffet breakfasts I\u2019ve experienced was at the RedLevel experience at the <a href=\"https:\/\/expedia.com\/affiliate\/WrLcbCR\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/expedia.com\/affiliate\/WrLcbCR\">Torre Melina Gran Meli\u00e1 in Barcelona<\/a>. The spread seemed endless, with beautifully presented pastries, fresh fruit, cheeses, charcuterie and live cooking stations. Yet what impressed me wasn\u2019t the scale. It was the quality. Every item felt carefully chosen rather than simply added to fill a buffet table. It transformed breakfast from a routine into an occasion. The hotel is widely praised for its extensive and high-quality breakfast offering, something that clearly reflects the standards throughout the property. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"1024\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/roamingwhispers.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/IMG_1369-1024x1024.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-621\" style=\"width:214px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/roamingwhispers.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/IMG_1369-1024x1024.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/roamingwhispers.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/IMG_1369-980x980.jpeg 980w, https:\/\/roamingwhispers.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/IMG_1369-480x480.jpeg 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yet my favourite hotel breakfast isn\u2019t a buffet at all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That honour belongs to Hotel <a href=\"https:\/\/expedia.com\/affiliate\/X3IFW1S\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/expedia.com\/affiliate\/X3IFW1S\">Tresanton in St Mawes.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There\u2019s a particular pleasure in sitting above the Cornish coastline as the morning sun begins to light the water below. The breakfast menu is wonderfully unpretentious, but for me there is only one choice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Smoked salmon and scrambled eggs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/roamingwhispers.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/tempImageEcNbgk-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-622\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Simple.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Timeless.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Perfectly executed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s the sort of breakfast that reminds you how extraordinary simple ingredients can be when they\u2019re treated with care. In fact, smoked salmon and scrambled eggs remains one of the signature breakfast dishes served at Tresanton today. (<a href=\"https:\/\/thepolizzicollection.com\/\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/thepolizzicollection.com\/\">The Polizzi Collection<\/a>)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then there are breakfasts that are memorable because of where they happen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One morning in the <a href=\"https:\/\/expedia.com\/affiliate\/ZqGWpc4\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/expedia.com\/affiliate\/ZqGWpc4\">Maldives at Helengeli<\/a>, breakfast arrived floating across the water towards our villa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"819\" height=\"1024\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/roamingwhispers.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/IMG_3801-819x1024.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-624\" style=\"aspect-ratio:0.8;width:359px;height:auto\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The famous floating breakfast has become something of an Instagram clich\u00e9 over the years, but standing waist-deep in crystal-clear water with tropical fruit, pastries and fresh coffee drifting towards you is undeniably special.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some experiences are popular for a reason.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is one of them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What fascinates me is how different destinations approach breakfast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Barcelona, breakfast feels indulgent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Cornwall, it feels comforting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the Maldives, it becomes an experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And that\u2019s exactly what great hotels understand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Breakfast should reflect the destination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It should tell guests where they are.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I\u2019ve enjoyed breakfasts overlooking Mediterranean bays in Menorca, city skylines in New York and Parisian rooftops bathed in morning light.
